This article explain what the Students’ Union is.

The University of Portsmouth Students’ Union (the Union) is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity. The Union is based in the centre of Portsmouth and turns over nearly £2 million per annum. The Students’ Union employs approximately 60 staff both full-time permanent staff and part-time student staff. 

The Union is here to ensure the advancement of education of students at the University of Portsmouth for the public benefit by:

  • promoting the interests and welfare of students at the University of Portsmouth during their course of study and representing; supporting and advising students
  • being the recognised representative channel between students and the University of Portsmouth and any other external bodies
  • providing social, cultural, sporting and recreational activities and forums for discussions and debate for the personal development of its students.
