Calling all new students! Join in with our January Welcome Groups and give yourself a head start settling in at University.

This article explains an exciting opportunity available to every new student joining the University in January 2019 - read on to find out more about how to start meeting other new students before you arrive:

At the University of Portsmouth, we celebrate diversity and inclusivity, and want to make sure every one of you can find a space where you feel you belong.

Email us at welcomeambassadors@port.ac.uk and we will sign you up to an online meeting space hosted by student Welcome Ambassadors, where you will be able to:

  • browse useful info about settling in
  • meet other January-start students
  • chat with the Welcome Ambassadors to find out more about life in Portsmouth

This is a great way to meet fellow new students who share your interests and get chatting before you arrive. You will have in common that you are starting uni in January, and will be able to join networks around other things you have in common - such as being a commuter student, or sharing a hobby or preferred activity.

Joining in with the Welcome Group offers a great introduction to the vibrant, welcoming learning community that we pride ourselves on offering here at the University of Portsmouth.

All you need to do is give us permission to use your email address to sign you up to the Welcome Ambassadors meeting space, which is hosted by a third party platform called Slack. Please check the Slack privacy policy to make sure you are happy for us to use your email address to sign you up.

Email us at welcomeambassadors@port.ac.uk providing your name and preferred email address. Then look at for your email invitation to Welcome Ambassadors from the week beginning 7 January 2019.
