Tier 4 Attendance Monitoring Process

This article will provide information on the Tier 4 Attendance Monitoring Process

In line with current Home Office (UKVI) Tier 4 policy, the Academic Registry Department monitor the regularity of attendance for students on Tier 4 visas to ensure that they are meeting the terms of their visa.

If you are a Tier 4 student and our records show that you are missing too many classes you will be sent a warning email reminding you of your obligations as a Tier 4 student and asking you to speak to your department if you are having any problems whilst studying in Portsmouth.  Further missed classes will result in additional warning emails.

If your attendance fails to improve after we have sent you 3 warning emails, you will be required to attend an interview with the Academic Registry Department so that we can try and determine the cause of your poor attendance and ensure you are being provided with the support or information that you need to succeed in your studies.  This interview will be recorded and you will be provided with a letter explaining our recommendations and outlining what you need to do to avoid being in breach of visa rules.

Failure to correct your attendance rate after we have interviewed you could result in you being excluded from the university and your Tier 4 visa may be curtailed (cancelled) by UKVI.

The following is an outline of the process.

1) 1st Warning Email sent

2) 2nd Warning Email sent

3) 3rd Warning Email sent

4) Student required to attend interview with Academic Registry Department

5) Possible exclusion from the University and curtailment (cancellation) of your Tier 4 visa

If you have questions about your attendance please contact your department office
