Course aims:

To provide a user with a more in depth understanding of Google Mail. By the end of the session the user will have an understanding of how Google Mail is used within the University, mail features and effective use of settings.

Course pre-requisites

Participants will already be using Google Mail or be familiar with other email solutions.

Course objectives

By the end of the course a participant will be competent in the use of the following:

  1. The screen layout, menus, action buttons
  2. Use of labels, assigning, removing, moving, archive
  3. Searching, quick search, search options, search operators
  4. Filters
  5. Conversation view, forwarding and replying to individual messages
  6. Contacts, directory, my contacts, most contacted
  7. Contact groups
  8. Compose messages using some of the advanced features of the application
  9. Settings, including signature and out of office
  10. Default labs, including signature tweaks, canned responses and undo send
  11. Hangouts
