This article provides instructions for manually configuring an Android device to access the University's eduroam wireless network.

These instructions were produced using a Nexus device on Android 4.4.4. Some other devices Android devices may have slightly different screens because of the manufacturer, however they will more or less follow these steps. 

Please note Android versions 2.x.x are incompatible with the eduroam wireless network.

  1. Open the device's Settings menu and select Wifi
  2. Select Eduroam on the list of available networks 
  3. Set EAP method to PEAP
  4. Set Phase-2 authentication to MSCHAPV2
  5. Select Use system certificates for CA certificate
  6. Enter port.ac.uk in the Domain field
  7. Enter your student or staff network username in the Identify field (add @port.ac.uk as part of the name e.g up000000@port.ac.uk)
  8. In the Password field, enter your network password. Then select Connect at the bottom right of the screen
  9. Eduroam will automatically connect every time you are within range of the wireless
