Microsoft Imagine Academy e-Learning Resources

The University subscribes to the Microsoft Imagine Academy which provides all students and staff with access to self-service e-learning courses covering a wide range of Microsoft software products. The courses are provided through an online e-learning portal which can be accessed via a web-browser at any location (on campus, at home etc).

The Microsoft Imagine Academy includes courses for beginners and experienced users to develop their skills and also provides resources for those interested in gaining Microsoft certifications

Using the e-Learning Portal

Note: The recommended browser for the Imagine Academy e-learning portal is Mozilla Firefox.
Google Chrome cannot be used as it no longer supports the plug-in (Microsoft Silverlight) which is used by many courses within the Imagine Academy.

Access the Microsoft Imagine Academy e-Learning portal at https://imagineacademy.microsoft.com 

  • Select ‘Sign In’
  • select ‘Office 365 account’
  • sign in with your University Office 365 id and password.

The Dashboard page

This is the initial landing page of the e-learning portal.

The Dashboard home page displays:

  • My courses - courses you have enrolled on
  • My achievements - courses you have completed
  • Catalog link - to list/select from all available courses (see below)
  • Help topics - online help for using the Imagine Academy e-learning portal
  • Resume tile - quick access to the last course accessed

Browse and select courses

  • Select ‘Catalog’ in the title bar - a list of topic areas will be displayed

  • Select the desired category 
    Tip: If you do not see the courses listed as expected then check you have selected the appropriate language in the ‘narrow by’ field. 
  • Select the “Syllabus” icon  to view course details, click the back-arrow  to return to course list.
  • Select “Add” to include in “My Courses.”
  • When prompted, select ‘View Course’ to get started with your online learning or ‘Close’ to return to the course list.

To access learning materials

    • From the Dashboard, select the ‘My Courses’ tile to see the courses you have selected. Your courses are grouped under category ‘My added courses”.

    • To start a course select "Course" 
      If you have already started a course you will resume at the point you left off.

    • To read course details select the course title.

    • To view course syllabus, click the syllabus icon. 
    • To exit from a course use the exit tab.

NB. Use the built-in back arrow when navigating , rather than the web browser back button.

Signing out

It is best practice to sign out when you are finished to prevent other users from accessing your account:

    • Click your name from the top-right corner of the portal.
    • Click ‘Sign out’ to close the current session and log out of the system.

Course Transcripts

Transcripts show your progress in a course or set of courses including your assessment scores.
