Two methods can be used to connect to the VPN. The native client or an app downloaded from the Google play store.

Native Client

Go to Settings then select More and tap on VPN.

Click Add and enter the following information.

Name: UoP

Type: IPSec Xauth PSK

Server Address:

IPsec identifier: uop (this should be all lower-case)

IPsec preshared key: purple-banana (also all lower-case)

Click on Save.

To use the VPN, select UoP on the VPN page. This page can be reached via SettingsMoreVPN. When on the VPN page enter your University network username and password, tick Save account information and then click Connect.

To disconnect go to SettingsMoreVPN, tap UoP (Connect) and then tap Disconnect.

It is only necessary to use VPNCilla if the native client does not connect to the VPN.

Download the VPNCilla app from the Google Play Store.

Note: there is a trial (10 day) version and a purchased version. It is suggested the trial version is downloaded first to ensure this works on the device and then upgrade to the paid version once it has proven to work, if you wish to do so. Or you can just delete the trial version then download and install the free version again if that is preferable.

In the VPNCilla app set up a new VPN profile by pressing the button at the top of the screen.

Under Name of the new connection type UoP as shown in Figure1 and tap OK.
