Advice for English students

If you have not applied for student finance before you will need to register and create an account, then log in to complete your application.

You can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan which is paid directly to the University for your fees.

You can apply for a Maintenance Loan which is paid to you for your living costs. If you want to apply for the element of the loan that is based on household income you will need to enter contact details for your parent(s)/guardian(s) or your partner/spouse, as it is their income which will determine the amount you can receive. They will then receive an email inviting them to submit their income information. This will complete your means-tested application.

Some students can apply as independent students - the criteria are given within the application process. In some cases you will need to provide evidence for this.

There are additional grants available for students who have dependants, and for those with disabilities. There are questions within the application form which will guide you to apply if you wish to.

Continuing students should log in and re-apply for the forthcoming academic year. You will normally receive an email reminding you to do this, but you don’t have to wait for this email in order to re-apply.

If you need any help with filling out the application form, please contact the Student Finance team.
