This article will give you information on whether you can bring your car to halls of residence and if so, where you can park.

We do not encourage students to bring their cars to Portsmouth, as, with the exception of Blue Badge holders (see below) we cannot allocate any space for parking at the halls of residence. Instead, we would encourage students to use the free University bus and local transport links.

We would ask that you note the following information:

Students who wish to bring a motorcycle to University must contact the Car Parking Office prior to bringing it on campus so that suitable arrangements can be made.

Students who are allocated to and accept a place in any of the Guildhall halls of residence understand that there are no adequate parking facilities available.

Any permits issued are covered by the University’s parking policy and regulations will be enforced by the Car Parking Office.

A fee will be charged for a parking permit that will be valid for one academic year. However, holding a permit is not a guarantee of a parking place; it simply allows access to the designated student parking areas. No reduction in the fee will be made if permit holders are unable to park.

Students who accept a place in halls of residence will be expected to comply with these restrictions and disciplinary action may be taken by the University against any student who infringes on them.

Blue Badge holders

If you are a registered blue badge holder then there are allocated parking spaces available at halls of residence. Please let us know and we can tell you where to find them.
