This article provides information regarding assistive technology available at the Library to assist students with their studies.

  • Wheelchair accessible library catalogue

  • A mobile adjustable height desk for use in group study rooms or area

  • Portable induction loops at enquiry points and in teaching rooms

  • Library Guides in different formats upon request.

An assistive technology area containing:

  • adjustable tables for wheelchair access

  • 21" monitor

  • ergonomic keyboard

  • trackball mouse

  • Microtrac mini-mouse

  • document camera

  • MagniLink X Split Reader - a magnifying electronic auto-focusing vision aid.

For an introduction to the above technology or for help with any of the above including pre-booking please contact staff at the Information Desk on the Ground floor which is open during the week from 9 am -9 pm and 10 am-4 pm at weekends (library@port.ac.uk or Tel: +44 (0)23 9284 3228).


We also offer an out-of-hours telephone service when the Information desk is closed, you will be automatically redirected using the above number. We are always looking to improve our provision, so please ask us if there is something you need to assist you in making full use of our facilities.
