This article provides information for students with a disability, who need help finding and carrying books in the library.

The Library provides baskets to help anyone needing to carry a number of books. If you have specific problems with lifting and carrying we have two small book trolleys which you can collect and return at the reception desk for use in the Library.

All members of the Library staff are happy to help disabled users to access our collections. Staff can help on an ad hoc basis with:

  • Searching for details of the library stock

  • Locating stock, checking the shelves and fetching books and journals

  • Inter-Library loans.

If you wish to discuss specific needs prior to a visit, please contact library@port.ac.uk or Tel: +44 (0)23 9284 3228 in advance to arrange specific help. We want to help you make the best use of the Library and its resources. If however, you need ongoing support on a permanent basis we are happy to provide an introduction to the Library to any support worker you employ.

For information visit the disability services page on the Library website
