Windsor – Saturday 29 September 2018 - £16

Windsor is home to historic Windsor Castle, the largest and oldest inhabited castle in the world, and royal residence of Queen Elizabeth II. Windsor also recently hosted a very special Royal Wedding – that of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle! As well as the beautiful castle, Windsor boasts quaint cobbled streets, independent boutique shops and stunning park land.

Brighton – Saturday 20 October 2018 - £12

Brighton is the UK’s most popular seaside town and is described as the UK’s most colourful city! Brighton is bursting with attractions, including the Royal Pavilion; an extravagant Indian style palace, and Brighton Pier; an iconic, neon lit pier filled with amusements, fairground rides and sea views. Brighton is also filled with vintage and independent shops and quirky cafes

London Musical – The Lion King – Wednesday 14 November 2018 - £41

Join us in London’s famous West End for one of the most successful stage shows of all time! Based on Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ film, this spectacular theatrical performance is filled with glorious colour, stunning effects and enchanting music. The powerful and moving story follows young Simba the lion cub on his epic journey to become King of the Pridelands.

Bath Christmas Market – Saturday 1 December 2018 - £16

Are you looking for a truly fantastic festive shopping experience? Each year, the centre of historic Bath is transformed in to a magical Christmas shopping paradise! There are over 170 stalls packed with a huge range of gifts from jewellery, clothes, handmade crafts, food and much more! Warm up with some mulled wine or hot chocolate whilst soaking in the wonderful festive atmosphere.

Harry Potter Studios – Saturday 26 January 2019 - £46

Warner Bros. Student Tour London provides an amazing opportunity to explore the magic of the Harry Potter films. This unique walking tour takes you behind-the-scenes and showcases a huge array of beautiful sets, costumes and props. It also reveals some closely guarded secrets, including facts about the special effects and animatronics. And of course, you’ll be able to try a famous butter beer!

Oxford – Saturday 16 February 2019 - £16

For over 800 years Oxford has been a home to royalty and scholars, and nowadays it is a bustling cosmopolitan city, full of history and culture. Visit this famous historic English town and see Oxford Castle, visit some of Oxford's colleges or take a boat ride down the river. Visit Oxford Natural History Museum, the Botanical Gardens or Museum of the History of Science and visit the local markets and boutiques!

Stonehenge and Salisbury – Saturday 9th March 2019 - £26

Stonehenge is one of the wonders of the world; a famous pre-historic monument standing in beautiful English countryside. It is 5000 years old and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The purpose of Stonehenge remains a mystery to this day.

After visiting Stonehenge, the coach will take you on to the medieval cathedral city of Salisbury; typically English and full of medieval, Tudor, Georgian and Victorian architecture, as well as shops, cafes and attractions.

Join our International Student Ambassadors as they host a festive themed quiz. Prizes to be won!

Chinese New Year Celebrations – Year of the Pig – February 2019

The Chinese Society hosts an annual show to celebrate their Spring Festival through traditional dance, songs and other performances.

Global Week – Beginning Monday 18th March 2019FREE

Global Week celebrates the global culture we have at the University of Portsmouth!

A week-long programme of events, from open lectures to sporting sessions and cultural society events including the highlight of the week Festival of Cultures. This exhibition style event celebrates the diversity we have on campus with an evening of food, music, costume and more!  See full programme here:


Social activities

Christmas Vacation Socials - 27th and 28th, December 2018, Drop in any time between 10am and 4pm – Rees Hall – FREE

Are you staying in Portsmouth during Christmas vacation? If so, join our International Student Ambassadors for food, games, Christmas movie marathons and general chat.



HOST UK is a scheme where you can spend a day or weekend with a British family anywhere in the UK. You will get to learn more about British culture and share your culture with them. This is a great opportunity to fully immerse yourself in British culture and to make new friends along the way!

Weekend visit: £25

Day visit: £15

The cost of travel is extra.


Global Café - FREE

Global Café hosts weekly themed discussions every Wednesday in Park Building Café.

3.30pm - 4.30pm, every Wednesday during term time. All students welcome!

If you would like to meet other students in a friendly, informal environment then Global Café is for you! You will meet students from other countries and share knowledge and experience of other cultures and languages, or just chat over a hot drink.
