We organise a wide range of social events and coach trips throughout the year. We hope you can join us!

Coach trips

Brighton - Saturday 30th September 2017 - £10 

Departure from Portsmouth: 9am, Departure from Brighton: 4.30pm

Ticket includes coach travel only.

Brighton is the UK's most popular seaside town and is described as the UK's most colourful city! Brighton is bursting with attractions, including the Royal Pavilion; an extravagant Indian style palace, and Brighton Pier; an iconic, neon-lit pier filled with amusements, fairground rides and sea views. Brighton is also filled with vintage and independent shops and quirky cafes.

Stonehenge and Salisbury - Saturday 21st October 2017 - £25

Departure from Portsmouth: 8:00am, Departure from Salisbury: 4pm

Ticket price includes coach travel to Stonehenge and Salisbury, and entry into Stonehenge.

Stonehenge is one of the wonders of the world; a famous pre-historic monument standing in beautiful English countryside. It is 5000 years old and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The purpose of Stonehenge remains a mystery to this day.

After visiting Stonehenge, the coach will take you on to the medieval cathedral city of Salisbury; typically English and full of medieval, Tudor, Georgian and Victorian architecture, as well as shops, cafes and attractions.

London Musical - The Lion King - Wednesday 1st November 2017 - £37

Departure from Portsmouth: 10am, Departure from London: End of the show

Ticket price includes coach travel and entry ticket to musical.

Join us in London'd famous West End for one of the most successful stage shows of all time! Based on Disney's 'The Lion King' film, this spectacular theatrical performance is filled with glorious colour, stunning effects and enchanting music. The powerful and moving story follows young Simba the lion cub on his epic journey to become King of the Pridelands. 

Bath Christmas Market - Saturday 25th November 2017 - £15

Departure from Portsmouth: 8am, Departure from Bath: 4pm

Ticket includes coach travel only.

Are you looking for a truely fantastic festive shopping experience? Each year, the centre of historic Bath is transformed in to a magical Christmas shopping paradise! There are over 170 stalls packed with a huge range of gifts from jewellery, clothes, handmade crafts, food and much more! Warm up with some mulled wine or hot chocolate whilst soaking in the wonderful festive atmosphere.

Oxford - Saturday 10th February 2018 - £15

Departure from Portsmouth: 8am, Departure from Oxford 4pm

Ticket includes coach travel only.

For over 800 years Oxford has been a home to royalty and scholars, and nowadays it is a bustling cosmopolitan city, full of history and culture. Visit this famous historic English town and see Oxford Castle, visit some of Oxford's colleges or take a boat ride down the river. Visit Oxford Natural History Museum, the Botanical Gardens or Museum of the History of Science and visit the local markets and boutiques! 

Hampton Court Palace - Saturday 17th March 2018 - £30

Departure from Portsmouth: 8am, Departure from Hampton Court: 4pm

Ticket price includes coach travel and entry into the Palace.

Hampton Court is a majestic Tudor palace and former royal residence of King Henry VIII. At Hampton Court, you can step back in time and experience what life was like for a royal courtier under his reign with costumed tour guides, demonstrations and talks. Explore the vast formal gardens and one of the world's most famous mazes. Other highlights include the chocolate kitchen, the haunted courts and much more!

Cultural Events Calendar

A Taste of Christmas - Wednesday 13th December 2017 - FREE

A chance to taste traditional holiday foods from different countries and participate in festive games!

Location: Chaplaincy, Nuffield Centre, time tbc.

Chinese New Year Celebrations - Year of the Dog - Sunday 18th February 2018

The Chinese Society hosts an annual show to celebrate their Spring Festival through traditional dance, songs and other performances. Location tbc.

Global Week - Beginning Monday 19th February 2018

Global Week celebrates the global culture we have at the University of Portsmouth!

A week-long programme of events, from open lectures to fashion shows, sports sessions and cultural society events including the highlight of the week Festival of Cultures. This exhibition style event celebrates the diversity we have on campus with an evening of food, music, costume and more!

Christmas Vacation Socials 

27th, 28th and 29th December 2017, 10am-4pm every day - Rees Hall - FREE

Are you staying in Portsmouth during Christmas vacation? If so, join our International Student Ambassadors for food, games, Christmas movie marathons and general chat. Drop in any time between 10am and 4pm. 

HOST UK

HOST UK is a scheme where you can spend a day or weekend with a British family anywhere in the UK. You will get to learn more about British culture and share your culture with them. This is a great opportunity to fully immerse yourself in British culture and to make new friends along the way!

Weekend visit: £25

Day visit: £15

The cost of travel is extra.

Global Cafe - FREE

Global Cafe hosts weekely themded discussions every Wednesday in Park Building Cafe.

3.30pm - 4.30pm, every Wednesday during term time. All students welcome!

If you would like to meet other students in a friendly, informal environment then Global Cafe is for you! You will meet students from other countries and share knowledge and experience of other cultures and languages, or just chat over a hot drink.
