What is a referral?

We recognise that the best way to attract students is through ‘word of mouth’ and that if you have enjoyed your time and study here that you may want to recommend studying at the University to your friends, family and colleagues, which sometimes results in one of those people in choosing to apply to study in Portsmouth.

As a result, we recognise the important role that you have in referring students to the University through two types of referral awards.

Types of referral awards

International Alumni Referral Award (IARA)

This applies to the successful referral of an international (non-EU) student. Should a current or former student refer someone who is then successful in their application to the University, they will receive £400.

For information on how to apply for this award see this article.

EU Referral Award (EURA)

This applies to the successful referral of an EU student. If the application of this individual is successful, then the student will receive £200.

For information on how to apply for this award see this article.

Can I apply?

All University of Portsmouth students and alumni are eligible to apply for and receive the award.
