This article provides details about financial matters for Graduation 2019.

I have an outstanding debt – will I be able to attend my ceremony?

If you have any outstanding debt to the university you may forfeit your opportunity to attend your graduation ceremony.

If you have debt you should discuss the payment of this as soon as possible with either our Finance Department (tuition or halls fee debt) or the Library (library debt).

Please note that library debt also includes outstanding book loans.

***It should be noted that anyone with an outstanding debt will not be issued with tickets until proof of the debt having been cleared is received – this includes on the day of the graduation ceremony***

Requests for refunds should normally be received within 30 days of the last graduation ceremony (for 2019 this will be Sunday 25 August).

Any student who is unable to attend a graduation ceremony due to academic reasons will receive a full refund of any monies paid to the University or any of its external providers (currently Wippell Gown Hire and Success Photography).

It is important to note that this does not include those who are eligible to attend the graduation ceremony.

If you or any of your guests receive a visa refusal you should contact and include details of the visa refusal and we will then review the request for a refund.

Otherwise refunds will only be given in exceptional circumstances. All requests for refunds should be emailed to with a copy of your booking details and a reason for the request.

All refunds have to be approved by the Academic Registrar and decisions are final.

All refunds will be credited to the account used when making the original payment.
